It's Friday, and you know what that means — it's officially time to grab a cocktail and kick off the weekend. And what better place than the new beer garden in Westbrook?

Quarryside, a beer garden and event space at Rock Row, opened last week at the ongoing Westbrook development.

“Quarryside at Rock Row offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to enjoy in the uniqueness of the quarry and seasonal outdoor activities with friends while savoring world-class local brews and food,” said Josh Levy, CEO of Waterstone Properties Group, developers of Rock Row.

The new space is perched on the edge of Rock Row's 20-acre, 400-foot-deep quarry. The site is a vibrant new destination centered around a stunning urban lake. A rotating series of community events will occur all year, including yoga classes, outdoor films, seasonal festivals, live music and fairs.

Quarryside includes a pop-up beer garden that will be a prominent feature of Rock Row for the next two or three years. Lone Pine is Quarryside’s anchor and exclusive brewery for that time.

Lone Pine will offer a variety of beers.

Lone Pine will offer a full beer program, including flagship brews and specialty releases, for enjoyment on-site or to-go. The brewery will also serve up pizza offerings in a garden lounge where guests can enjoy live music, lawn games, a kid's zone and more.

Lone Pine was founded in 2016 on Anderson Street in Portland’s East Bayside neighborhood by high school friends Tom Madden and John Paul. Since the early years, Lone Pine has evolved to become one of the largest craft breweries in Maine and in 2018 was the fourth-fastest growing brewery in the country.

The brewery boasts three Great American Beer Festival medals, as well as one Gold World Beer Cup medal. Lone Pine beer is distributed in 18 states and is most known for local favorites, Portland Pale Ale, and an industry cult favorite, Oh-J Double IPA.

“From our perspective, the collaboration with Rock Row was an attractive opportunity because we are looking to create joyful, experience-based, open-air spaces that can become centerpieces of local Maine communities," said Thomas Madden, co-founder of Lone Pine Brewing and Head Brewer.

"Waterstone's vision for Rock Row brings energy and excitement to Westbrook which aligns with what we're hoping to contribute with the new beer garden."

Rock Row’s Quarryside will be open Wednesday and Thursday, from noon to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday, from noon to 10 p.m., and on Sundays from noon to 8 p.m.
