Ramblers Way, a Kennebunk-based apparel company started by Tom’s of Maine founder Tom Chappell, continues its retail expansion.

The company said a planned store in Portsmouth, N.H., at 100 Market St., will open Feb. 4.

It has other stores in Kennebunk, at 119 Main St., and in Hanover, N.H.

Plans call for additional stores in Portland’s Old Port; Cambridge, Mass.; and West Hartford, Conn.

Last year, the company raised $10 million for working capital and its expansion, Mainebiz reported.

Ramblers Way produces clothing for men and women made from Rambouillet Merino wool and premium Pima cotton harvested in sustainable ways, the company said.

“We believe in creating a sustainable world that can enrich the lives of generations to come,” Chappell, founder and president of Ramblers Way, said in a statement. “The clothing industry is the second-largest polluter on Earth, so we see an opportunity to rethink how to produce clothing people will love as much for how it feels and how it looks as how it’s made.”
