A new convenience store at 1739 Hammond St. in Hermon is another sign of the town's expanded business activity, said Scott Perkins, Hermon's economic and community development director.
Kamlesh and Romi Patel held a ribbon-cutting at the new store, Hermon E-Z Mart, Wednesday.
"Hermon has seen an uptick in the Hammond Street industrial section with several new businesses expanding by purchasing adjacent lots, moving to Hermon and renovating existing properties and some who have chosen to build new facilities," Perkins said in a news release.
The opening follows the Dec. 20 announcement by Mathews Brothers Co., a window manufacturer in Belfast, that it is planning an expansion in Hermon, expected to result in the creation of 80 to 100 jobs.
