Ex-manager charged with theft

A Bath man has been charged with embezzling more than $59,000 from his employer, construction company J.R. Hill and Sons Inc.

The Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Department charged Dale Marshall with felony theft for allegedly taking $59,052 from the West Bath excavation company that was earmarked as payments for vendors, according to The Times Record. Marshall worked there as office manager since 2007, and in September went to the sheriff's department to confess stealing from the company, the paper reported. Marshall allegedly also compensated himself for fraudulent vacation time, an activity that led J.R. Hill and Sons' owners to conduct an internal audit after he was fired for not meeting job demands.

Marshall is scheduled to appear in court In January.
