Maine engineering firm acquires Pa. company

Portland and Bangor-based engineering firm Woodard & Curran has acquired Cummings/Riter Consultants Inc. of Pittsburgh, an environmental compliance and site development firm.

The two firms have successfully teamed on projects for the past 12 years, according to a press release. Cummings/Riter focuses on remediation services and has 32 employees. It will operate as Cummings/Riter, a Woodard & Curran Co., and its founders, Pat O’Hara and Ken Bird, will continue to provide leadership as the people and resources of the firms are merged. Cummings/Riter has a growing practice in the natural gas market, specifically the Pennsylvania shale gas market.

Woodard & Curran provides engineering, science and operations services to clients in Maine and around the country, especially in the municipal, food and beverage, real estate, energy, college/university and hospital markets. It has 650 employees and offices around the eastern United States.
