Walgreen's to pay $350,000 in settlement

Walgreen Co. has agreed to pay $350,000 to settle a complaint from the state over improper MaineCare billing procedures.

A civil complaint accused the pharmacy chain of billing MaineCare, the state's Medicaid program, for prescriptions and fees without getting signatures from customers as required, according to the Kennebec Journal. The alleged practices occurred between November 2007 and July 2010.

The investigation was conducted by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services' Program Integrity Unit, the U.S. Attorney's Office and the federal DHHS.
