Two more candidates for Snowe’s Senate seat

Two independent candidates are now officially in the running for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Republican Olympia Snowe, having filed their nomination papers over the past week.

Steve Woods, turned in 4,047 signatures Tuesday, according to MaineToday Media. He’s chairman of the Yarmouth Town Council and president and CEO of TideSmart Global, a Falmouth-based experiential marketing firm. Danny Dalton of Bath filed 4,134 signatures on May 18. His background was not available.

Independent candidates have until June 1 to file at least 4,000 qualified signatures to appear on the Nov. 6 ballot. The most notable independent planning to run, former Gov. Angus King, is expected to file his signatures next week.
