Auburn technology company acquired

Auburn-based Downeast Networks Inc. has been acquired by a Vermont-based network and document technology services company.

At the end of last month, South Burlington, Vt.-based SymQuest Group acquired the business assets of Downeast Networks for an undisclosed price, according to a press release. SymQuest has a Westbrook office that specializes in document services, and the recent acquisition will allow it to also provide network services throughout Maine.

Downeast Networks was founded in 2006 by Michael Pratt; he and his seven employees will join SymQuest's staff of 170.

SymQuest is a $37 million company with offices that also serve New Hampshire, New York and Vermont. It first expanded into Maine in 2008 with the acquisition of UBIQ Imaging Solutions in Westbrook.
