The 8,000-seat arena under construction in Bangor will be named the Cross Insurance Center when it's completed next fall. The Bangor-based company paid $3 million for long-term naming rights for the facility.
The city on Friday announced the agreement for the multi-purpose sports and entertainment venue, touting Cross Insurance's status as a family-owned business with "long-standing Bangor roots." Cross secured the naming rights for 15 years, and will also get additional advertising and premium seating opportunities, according to a press release.
Front Row Marketing Services, a firm that handles ancillary income for sports and entertainment venues, completed the naming rights agreement on behalf of the city. Global Spectrum, a public assembly facilities management firm, will operate the center. Both companies are subsidiaries of Comcast-Spectacor.
In April, Cross signed a two-year partnership with the Boston Red Sox to be the franchise's official insurance broker. The cost of the agreement was not released. Cross received signage placement in Fenway Park, other advertising opportunities and the ability to host events for its clients at the park.
