Lobster promotion council head resigns

Dane Somers, executive director of the Maine Lobster Promotion Council, announced his resignation Tuesday.

Somers had served five years at the helm of the organization focused on supporting Maine's top fishery.

A press release announced Tuesday that Somers will be replaced on an interim basis by Marianne LaCroix, who has been the marketing director for the council for the past six years.

The council was most recently involved in a campaign launched in August to promote lobster during this season's bountiful harvest and notably low prices.
