Downtown Portland hotel plan gets OK
The site plan for a 123-room hotel proposed for Portland's Old Port has received unanimous approval from the city's planning officials.
The Forecaster reported that the seven-story hotel with 700 square feet of first-floor retail space now has the go-ahead to be built at the corner of Fore and Union streets in the city's historic district.
The $13 million proposal from Cow Plaza Hotel LLC, affiliated with East Brown Cow, is just one of three hotels under consideration by the city this year; others include a 110-room boutique hotel eyed for 390 Congress St., the former Press Herald building, and a 131-room Courtyard by Marriott at a vacant lot at 311 Commercial St.
