Woods wants the Blaine House

Following an unsuccessful U.S. Senate bid as an Independent, TideSmart Global CEO Steve Woods says he plans to make a gubernatorial run in 2014 under the Democratic Party banner.

Woods told WGME that he was a Democrat before moving to Maine and that he is hoping to earn the party's endorsement in his run for the state's top office.

The Bangor Daily News reported in January that Gov. Paul LePage has formed a committee for his reelection run in 2014 and that the incumbent governor had already set up a website for his 2014 campaign at lepage2014.com, though LePage has not officially announced his reelection bid.

Woods is currently chairman of the Yarmouth Town Council.
