Dover-Foxcroft firm buys Sanford sawmill

Pleasant River Lumber, based in Dover-Foxcroft, has purchased a Sanford sawmill after its previous owners, New England Building Materials, went into bankruptcy reorganization.

The Journal Tribune reported that NEBM filed for bankruptcy in February, leaving the mill mostly inactive since that time. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

Pleasant River's vice president, Jason Brochu, told the paper that they have since restarted operations at the mill, which now employs 45 people.

That company was started by the Brochu family in 2004 and has a pine mill in Hancock that it opened in January of this year. It also has spruce mills in Dover-Foxcroft and Enfield, according to the company's website.
