LePage bill would nix charter school cap

As the number of Maine charter schools continues to grow, Gov. Paul LePage has begun work on legislation to remove a cap that says only 10 can open in the next decade.

The Bangor Daily News reported that LePage's bill is still in the works but is expected to come before the Legislature during the session that starts Tuesday.

From the first round of charter school applications to the state, four schools were approved and, in the latest round, the state received five applications.
