By a wide margin, the Maine Legislature voted Tuesday to shelter concealed gun permits from public access temporarily. The move follows a request, later rescinded, by the Bangor Daily News under the state's Freedom of Access Act. The emergency bill exempts information about concealed gun permit holders from the state's public access laws until April. Legislators will now consider a separate bill that would make the permit information private permanently.
Should concealed gun permit information be public?
