Software co. targets mobile millennials, nets MTI grant

Portland-based software company Tide Creative's idea for a mobile application that allows betrothed couples to compile photo albums of their wedding day from multiple users has won the company a $15,000 seed grant from the Maine Technology Institute.

The iSpyLove mobile application targets a growing mobile-savvy demographic now getting married, according to a press release. The number of marriages in the United States has remained at around 2.2 million since the 1970s, according to statistics from the National Center for Health Statistics, and today 83% of those are millennials, or people born between the early 1980s and early 2000s.

Among that generation, the company says, time spent with video- and photo-related mobile applications more than tripled from July 2011 to August 2012.

The company says the application will also allow users to purchase products from images featured in selected albums.
