Study: Boothbay land trust generates $3.9M a year

A study by the University of Maine's School of Economics estimates the economic impact of the more than 63,000 visitors to the Boothbay Region Land Trust's preserve to be around $3.9 million a year.

That figure is based on surveys of trail users, who were found to spend around $73.77 per day, on average.

Researchers found that 63,832 visitors came to the land trust between April and November 2012, a figure that nearly doubles the 38,000 annual hikers noted in a 2000 report.

The report estimated the revenue generated by the land trust supports 39 jobs, full-time and part-time, and $1.1 million in related labor income.
