Portland board OKs 5-story office building

The Portland Planning Board on Tuesday gave the green light to a five-story office building and two other proposed developments in the city.

Planning Board Chairman Stewart O’Brien told the Portland Press Herald that Bateman Partners’ proposed office building on Middle Street is the “first standalone office/commercial mixed-use project in a long while,” noting that it’s a “good sign for the Portland market.”

Bateman Partners also received approval for a four-story condo on Fore Street. The two projects together are estimated to cost $10 million. The third approved project, which was proposed by Redfern Properties, is for a $6.3 million, four-story building with 53 market-rate apartments in Portland’s East Bayside neighborhood.
