President Obama has proposed expanding the number of workers who would be eligible for overtime benefits. Currently, overtime benefits do not apply to full-time salaried employees with supervisor roles who earn more than $23,660 a year. Under Obama's proposal, that limit would be more than doubled to those earning more than $50,440 a year. The Portland Press Herald reported that an estimated 20,000 Maine workers could benefit from the rule change.
