The Portland City Council has approved an increase of the city's minimum wage to $10.10 an hour, effective the beginning of next year. It will then increase to $10.68 in 2017 and, starting in July 2018, begin increasing at the same rate as the Consumer Price Index. Because of a state law, the minimum wage for tipped workers in Portland will go from $3.75 an hour to $6.35 at the beginning of next year.
What kind of impact will Portland's minimum wage increase have on businesses?
