Direct Vet Marketing Inc., a Portland-based veterinary medicine services company, plans to hire 25 account managers in its downtown Portland office during a job fair this Thursday, founder and CEO Benjamin Shaw told Mainebiz in an interview.

The company raised $52.3 million in equity earlier this year and said in July that it plans to hire 60 people by the end of this year.

Shaw also said the company expects to see revenue double this year for the fourth consecutive year. Revenue was $45 million in 2014.

Direct Vet’s headquarters already is overcrowded with the dozen or so recent hires, and Shaw said he is looking for additional space.

“We seek to hire 25 account managers in our downtown Portland office to support rapid growth of our veterinary pharmacy and prescription management platform,” Shaw said of the goal of hiring all 25 on Thursday.

The interview fair is Thursday, Sept. 24, from noon to 5 p.m. at the company’s office at 7 Custom House St., third floor, he said.

“Be prepared for a panel interview with members of our sales team, “ Shaw said.

He told Mainebiz that his company is competing nationally for staff, and wants people who are enthusiastic and optimistic to manage veterinary customers. They do not necessarily have to have a background in veterinary medicine or pharmaceuticals, he said, adding the company can teach them what they need to know for their job.

Shaw said the demand for an easier and less expensive way to get pet prescriptions is growing rapidly.
