Monday's announcement that a consortium led by the University of Maine will get $3.7 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Energy puts Maine back in the running for a $40 million grant to install two six-megawatt wind turbines in deep water off Monhegan Island. If the group lands one of those grants, the goal is to have turbines producing power off Monhegan by 2019.
