Natural dog treats win Skowhegan Entrepreneur Challenge

Skowhegan is going to the dogs.

Amanda Clark of Smithfield will move her natural dog treat business, The Maine Barkery, to downtown Skowhegan, and will receive $20,000 in cash and business incentives as part of an Entrepreneur Challenge sponsored by Main Street Skowhegan and Skowhegan Savings Bank, the Morning Sentinel reported.

Earlier this month, another Skowhegan-based canine business, Dog Not Gone, was selected by Wal-Mart to carry the company’s safety vests and collars for dogs.

The Entrepreneur Challenge is a partnership between Main Street Skowhegan, Skowhegan Savings Bank and area organizations and business leaders. The goal is to spur economic activity in downtown Skowhegan by bringing in new businesses.
