President Donald Trump made good on a campaign promise by scuttling the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal negotiated by the Obama administration with 11 other Pacific Rim nations. A clear winner is Boston-based footwear manufacturer New Balance, which has three factories in Maine and had stated the trade deal's accelerated phase-out of footwear tariffs would have put its 900 jobs in Maine and another 500 jobs at its two Massachusetts factories at risk. But exporters of Maine lobsters, potatoes and blueberries stood to benefit from elimination of food tariffs under the deal.
Do you think President Trump made the right decision in scrapping the TPP trade deal?
