LD 719, “An Act to Allow Slot Machines or a Casino in York County,” is among the bills that have been submitted for consideration by lawmakers in the first session of the 128th Legislature. If approved, it would exempt a York County casino from current Maine law requiring any new casino to be at least 100 miles from an existing licensed casino. It also raises the limit on the number of registered slot machines statewide from the current 3,000 to 4,500. Much like the enabling legislation for the Hollywood Casino in Bangor and the Oxford Casino in Oxford, the bill stipulates that 56% of slot machine income would go to support a host of state and local programs.
Do you support a third Maine casino, which would be located in York County?
