Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan recently reported some former patients at the hospital had been targeted by a phishing scam involving automated phone calls asking for personal financial information. The scammers used a local phone number owned by Redington-Fairview, which reported its data systems nevertheless remained secure and intact and that there was no security breach. “If 2016 was the year hacking went mainstream, 2017 will be the year hackers innovate,” Adam Meyer, chief security strategist at SurfWatch Labs, told TechRepublic in a recent article about cybersecurity trends for 2017.
