Millinocket nursing shortfall could result in one-day strike

Nurses at Millinocket Regional Hospital said they might call a one-day strike if contract negotiations break down.

The Bangor Daily News reported that issues center on shortfalls in the nursing staff.

“Especially on night shifts, if you have one nurse, and they are young, just coming out of school, they don’t have the experience or the confidence to work by themselves,” Monique Babineau, president of Maine State Nurses Association Local No. 1082, told the BDN.

A federal mediator is working with both the hospital administration and the union.
