Maine apple growers are reporting a much larger apple harvest this year over last year's crop, which was adversely impacted by a long drought. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Maine apple growers will produce an estimated 43 million pounds of apples — an increase of 22% from a year ago and 29% above the state's five-year average.
