Wells Fargo donates $30K to veterans retreat

Wells Fargo financial advisors in Portland donated $30,000 towards work at the Travis Mills Foundation veterans retreat in Rome.

The Kennebec Journal reported the donation includes $25,000 for the retreat, being built in the former Elizabeth Arden mansion on Castle Island Road, and an additional $5,000 to buy items for the retreat, including adaptive water equipment, life jackets for service animals and diaper canisters for families that stay at the retreat.

The retreat opened in June, and this summer hosted 57 veterans and their families from 23 states, a total of 150 people, the foundation said on its website

Those staying at the retreat took part in archery, equine therapy, art/pottery, baking classes, paddle boarding, kayaking, fly fishing, hiking, bass fishing, yoga, boating/tubing, martial arts, golf, cycling, disc golf and massage therapy.
