Bangor restaurant will change hands, again

The owner of Giacomo’s, a downtown Bangor grocery store and café, will sell the business after less than a year.

The Bangor Daily News reported that a deal for the eatery, at 1 Central St., will become official on Dec. 10. The new owner will be David Reesman.

The seller, Matt Haskell, said with other restaurant properties he didn’t have the time he and his business partner needed to commit to the spot. Haskell also owns two Bar Harbor sites, the Blaze restaurant and Finback Alehouse, as well as Hoxbill in Camden. Haskell owns the properties with Evelina Kacprzykowska, the BDN reported.

“It really is a place that needs to be owner occupied, and Dave can do that,” Haskell told the BDN. “Evelina and I are just so busy that we aren’t able to give it the attention it deserves.”

Terms of the Bangor deal were not disclosed.

Prior to Haskell’s tenure, the site had been owned by Brett Settle, who abruptly closed the business at the end of 2016. Haskell and his Kacprzykowska reopened Giacomo’s in May 2017.

Reesman indicated the café will have a new name and new concept.
