MTI's new board members come from a range of industries

The Maine Technology Institute added three new members to its board of directors. The new directors — Richard Ganong, Stacey Huth and Meredith Mendelson — bring extensive experience, respectively, in finance, biotechnology and aquaculture and marine-related issues.
“We are absolutely thrilled that individuals of the caliber of Rick, Stacey and Meredith are willing and able to serve on the MTI board,” MTI President Brian Whitney said in a news release. “Their background and knowledge will add a great deal of value to board deliberations and will help position the organization for continued relevance and impact.”
Richard Ganong of Brunswick has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry with a focus on venture capital and hedge fund investing. He was a partner at the Tudor Investment Corp., an internationally recognized diversified investment management firm, and was a founding general partner of the Tudor Venture Group, which managed a series of funds providing growth capital to private companies in various information technology industries.
Most recently, Ganong was the senior vice president of development and alumni relations at Bowdoin College. His educational background includes an MBA from the Tuck School at Dartmouth and a bachelor of arts degree from Bowdoin College. He will assume one of the two finance, lending and venture capital seats on the MTI board.

Stacey Huth
Stacey Huth of Yarmouth is the director of molecular program management at EnviroLogix Inc., a subsidiary of Ensign-Bickford Industries. EnviroLogix is a Maine-based biotechnology company developing rapid GMO and mycotoxin detection technology.
Huth has extensive experience in bringing diagnostic products and systems to market. Prior to joining EnviroLogix, she served for 20 years at IDEXX Laboratories in research and development as both technical and team leader. She is also the sole proprietor of Good Science Bakery, a home-based entrepreneurial adventure providing baklava to local bakeries for resale. Her educational background includes a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Simmons College and a doctorate in organic chemistry from the University of Maine. She will represent the biotechnology sector on MTI’s board.

Meredith Mendelson
Meredith Mendelson of Camden serves as deputy commissioner for the Maine Department of Marine Resources, a position she has held since May 2012. The agency has a broad mission that includes conservation of marine and estuarine resources, conducting research, and promotion and development of coastal fisheries and aquaculture.
In prior work, Mendelson was a staff member of former U.S. Sen. Olympia J. Snowe’s office on the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Oceans, Atmosphere, Fisheries and Coast Guard. She also managed a groundfish sector and worked for the community program at the Gulf of Maine Research Institute.
A graduate of Bates College and the University of Maine School of Law, Mendelson will represent the aquaculture and marine technology sector on the MTI board.
Ganong, Huth and Mendelson replace Steve Smith, Chris Davis and Linda Diou, who served on MTI’s board for two full terms.
