Maine home sales up double digits in November

Sales of single-family existing homes in Maine increased by double digits in November, with the 1,576 homes that were sold representing an 11.46% increase over the 1,414 homes sold in November 2016.

Maine Listings also reported that the median sales price for those homes rose 4.24% to $200,000 — meaning, half sold for more and half sold for less. Median sales price for November 2016 was $191,863.

“Through November, the number of home sales statewide in 2017 has exceeded the best-ever 2016 by 0.6%,” said Greg Gosselin, broker/owner of Gosselin Realty Group in York and 2017 president of the Maine Association of Realtors. “We’re hoping that strong sales activity in December will push 2017 to claim the No. 1 all-time ranking.”

The National Association of Realtors reported a 3.2% national increase in sales of single-family existing homes across the country. The national median sales price rose 5.4% to $248,800.

Regionally, sales in the Northeast were up 6.7% and the regional median sales price rose 4.0% to $273,600.
