As 2017 comes to close, it seems an appropriate time to reflect on the year's blessings, challenges and unfulfilled goals. We end the year with the Republican Congress passing the first major tax reform legislation since 1986. Maine's unemployment rate remains at historically low levels and the Maine Department of Labor reporting the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.3% for November, which was down slightly from 3.5% for October and 3.8% a year ago.
