STARC doubles manufacturing space at Brunswick Landing

Courtesy / Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority STARC co-founder and COO Bruce Bickford talks to John Christensen, president of New England Oceanographic Labs, in STARC's new space on Orion Street in Brunswick landing.

STARC Systems moved out of TechPlace at Brunswick Landing and into a 16,000-square-foot building down the street adjacent to Brunswick Executive Airport.

The building at 166 Orion St., which previously housed ground support equipment maintenance, is owned by the Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority, which is leasing it to STARC. The building, constructed in 2004, is one of the last ones built by the Navy at the former Brunswick Naval Air Station.

STARC had been at Tech Place since 2105, and doubled its manufacturing space in the move to Orion Street. Co-founder and COO Bruce Bickford said the company has doubled sales in the last year, and expects to grow at a similar pace, according to the MRRA website. The new building will be able to accommodate the company’s manufacturing needs for a year or two, he said.

The company named Chris Vickers CEO in October, and also announced $3.5 million in outside financing, shortly before the move.

The company will continue to lease office space for its administrative and sales staff at Tech Place, the MRRA said.
