The U.S. Small Business Administration appointed Connecticut lawyer Wendell G. Davis as regional administrator for SBA Region 1, which covers Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut.

Davis, who started on Jan. 8, replaces Seth Goodall, a former Maine state senator from Richmond, as the regional administrator.

Mainebiz’s sister publication Hartford Business Journal reported that Davis, who practices business law and commercial transactions, was a managing partner at DCB Law Group LLC, where he established the firm’s commercial transactions practice group.

“I am very pleased that Wendell Davis is now in place as the Regional Administrator in Region I to help support me and the president in serving as a voice and go-to resource for our nation’s 30 million small businesses,” SBA Administrator Linda McMahon said in a news release. “As we move forward in 2018 and beyond, I look forward to working closely with him to help the entrepreneurs in New England,” SBA Administrator Linda McMahon said.

Davis has an undergraduate degree in political science from Central Connecticut State University and is a past president of the University’s alumni association. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame Law School and comes to the SBA with 15 years’ experience as small business owner.

He lives in Amston, Conn., with his wife Sarah and three sons.
