Union farm-to-table brewery on tap

A new nanobrewery in Union is the latest addition to Maine’s beer scene.

The PenBay Pilot reported that Pour Farm Brewery is modeled after the vertically integrated farm-to-table movement, with plans to grow hops and botanicals for use in its brews. Owners Bill and Ashley Stinson are on schedule to begin producing small-batch beers, at a 10-acre farm they purchased a year ago, this spring.

The brewery they’ve constructed has a three-barrel setup and six taps. Growlers, pints, flights and pitchers will be available for purchase on site.

“I consider what we’re doing to be a nanobrewery, we plan to start small and stay small,” Bill Stinson told the paper. Stinson has been making beer since the 1980s in five- to 10-gallon batches. His recipes feature flavorings like anise and wormwood. Stinson said an advantage of being in Union is proximity to other small brewers and distillers.

“We’re excited to be surrounded by brewers, wineries, and distilleries,” he said.
