Anchorspace coworking expands to Ellsworth

A new coworking space recently opened in Ellsworth at 53 Oak Space, currently occupied by two businesses with room for six more.

The Ellsworth American reported the site is the second Anchorspace location after Bar Harbor and is owned by Nicole Ouellette in partnership with Dave Charron, owner of computer consulting firm Compusult.

The two businesses share a 2,800-foot space in Ellsworth that also includes a lawn and small parking lot.

The area is zoned for downtown use, which allows for commercial enterprises.

On its website, Anchorspace promotes itself as a “really flexible office where you can rent a desk on a monthly or daily basis or where you can have a meeting or small gathering in a conference room.”

The site also lists 51 uses for Anchorspace, from book launches to cocktail parties and classes, and offers online courses in subjects including accounting, SEO for small business and neurodiversity in the workplace.

Rates are $199/month (floating desk) and $399/month (set desk).

The Portland area has also seen a boom in coworking spaces as an attractive working environment for freelancers, remote workers and startups, Mainebiz reported in February.
