Waterboro retail plaza, destroyed by fire last year, will reopen

The owners of Brookfield Place on Main Street in Waterboro are nearly done with reconstruction of the shopping plaza, which was destroyed by fire in 2017.

The Journal Tribune reported the property is owned by Cindy and Troy Plummer, and Troy’s brother Garrett Plummer. The original plaza had three storefronts, but will reopen with two that will house the family’s Plummer’s Ace Hardware and a Family Dollar. A grand opening is planned for Nov. 9 and 10.

According to a post on the hardware store’s Facebook page, the new building is complete and Plummer’s Hardware is looking to open Oct. 15.

The hardware store also has locations in Buxton and Limerick. Its Waterboro location as at Brookfield Place and was part of the property destroyed by the fire.

According to a Waterboro Reporter article, the multi-alarm fire occurred July 16, 2017. The original shopping center, located at 1009 Main St., dated to 1987.
