Diversified Communications promotes Larkin to lead its U.S. division

Mary Larkin, who has been part of the three-person leadership team for Diversified Communications’ U.S. operations, has been promoted to president.
The division, which is located in Portland, employs more than 200 people who produce 24 conferences and exhibitions annually, over 10 online publications and business-to-business platforms and two monthly trade magazines.
“In 2014, we took the unusual step and established a three-person EVP team,” said Theodore Wirth, president and CEO of Diversified Communications, an international media company headquartered in Portland with divisions and offices throughout the world. “Bill Springer, Mike Lodato and Mary Larkin were able to grow the business, but three-person leadership teams are challenging at best and we felt it was the right time to appoint one leader.”
Wirth added, “We greatly appreciate what Bill, Mike and Mary accomplished together and throughout their careers here, and look forward to the future of Diversified Communications under Mary’s leadership.”
Larkin has been with Diversified Communications for more than 23 years. She has risen through the ranks from her entry position in sales to show director (2001), group vice president (2004), executive vice president (2014) and now president of Diversified Communications’ U.S. division.
Throughout this time, she has been integral in growing the company’s largest events: Seafood Expo Global and Seafood Expo North America. She is also an active and contributing professional within the events industry, most recently as incoming president of UFI  the global association of the exhibition industry.
“It is an honor to take on this new leadership position,” said Larkin. “I look forward to working with our talented and dedicated staff to take Diversified’s U.S. division to new heights.”
