Tempus Jets expands to Brunswick Landing
Tempus Jets, a Virginia-based aircraft maintenance and repair company, has signed a one-year lease for space at Brunswick Landing, where it plans to have 50 employees by the end of 2014.
The Bangor Daily News reported the company plans to service large commercial aircraft from Boeing and Airbus in its new 35,000-square-foot space in Hangar 6 of the former naval air station. The company says it plans to invest between $8 million and $8.5 million to renovate the building.
CEO Scott Terry said the company plans to move around 10 employees from its Newport News, Va., facility to Brunswick initially and then hire another 10 to 15 people by the end of the year.
The company, which reports about $125 million in annual revenue, was formed in 2007 and consists of a group of companies led by Orion Air Group Holdings, which has 11 subsidiaries around the United States and in Uganda.
Terry said the company chose Brunswick Landing because it has hangar facilities that can accommodate wide-bodied jets and there is potential to convert another nearby hangar into a paint facility for Boeing 737s.
