Maine fixes unemployment processing glitch

A computer glitch that delayed the processing of more than 2,000 unemployment claims submitted by Mainers early last week has been fixed.

The Portland Press Herald reported that the Maine Department of Labor had fixed the problem on Friday and had processed most of the delayed claims that were filed between Monday evening and Thursday afternoon.

Claimants affected by the delay should begin receiving their benefits payments early this week, the newspaper reported. Those submitting claims over the weekend or today should receive payments as usual.

The department is encouraging people to use the website www.file4ui.com or its automated phone system, 1-800-593-7660, to file or check on the status of claims.
