Kennebunk River dredging gets under way

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to complete a dredging project in the Kennebunk River by March 15, creating an 8-foot deep entrance channel to the waterway.

The Associated Press reported that tons of fine sand will be removed from a channel to the river to make passage safer for commercial boats. Recent coastal storms and currents in the area caused sand to build up around the mouth of the river, the AP reported.
