Houlton-based bank one of first to join marketplace

Katahdin Bankshares Corp., a Houlton-based bank holding company, has joined the QTCQX marketplace among seven other publicly traded banks across the country.

The eight banks are the first ones to trade on the marketplace “under a new streamlined qualification process for U.S. community and regional banks,” according to a press release. The QTCQX market is operated by New York-based OTC Markets Group, operator of financial marketplaces for 10,000 U.S. and global securities.

“The announcement expands the OTCQX marketplace for U.S. and international companies,” OTC Markets Spokesman Saskia Sidenfaden said, adding that it “distinguishes publicly-traded community and regional banks that are strongly-capitalized, transparent in their news and disclosure and committed to enhancing value for their shareholders.”
