High demand fuels brewer’s $800K expansion

Geaghan Bros. Brewing Co., which was formed in 2011 by a Bangor-based pub bearing the family’s name, plans to invest approximately $800,000 into a new brewing facility.

The Bangor Daily News reported that high demand in the area for Geaghan’s beer has pushed the company to open a new brewery at a 3,600-square-foot garage in a former J.J. Nissen bakery in Brewer, which the company recently leased.

The brewery told the newspaper it expects the expansion will help increase its current production capacity of around 18,600 gallons to up to 93,000 — a figure that would rank its production capacity closer to that of Maine-based breweries like Gritty McDuff’s.
