Construction of $15.4M Oxford hotel could be imminent

A developer is expected to start construction on a proposed $15.4 million hotel across from Oxford Casino once it receives approval from the Maine Fire Marshal’s Office.

The Lewiston Sun Journal reported that the 93-room Hampton Inn on Route 26 is the first part of Oxford-based Casalinova Development Group’s plan to develop 550 acres of farmland into a commercial development with shops and restaurants.

Oxford’s code enforcement officer told the newspaper that the fire marshal’s office is expected to notify the town if the hotel’s plans have been approved within a few weeks.

The hotel project, expected to cost $15.4 million, will benefit from a credit enhancement agreement that will allow developers to receive retain a percentage of its property taxes. The hotel is expected to have at least 80 employees when it opens.
