Popular Waterville eatery may re-open

Bolley’s Famous Franks in Waterville may re-open with an expanded menu after a local couple said they are in the process of buying the shuttered hot dog and burger joint.

The Morning Sentinel reported that Meagan McAvoy Hunter and husband Bruce Hunter of Oakland said they have signed an agreement to purchase the College Avenue building, with Meagan’s father, Peter McAvoy, helping with the transaction.

The couple, who met while studying at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Orlando, Fla., told the newspaper they were “devastated” when they heard Bolley’s was closing, but called it a “blessing in disguise” because they were already seeking to open their own restaurant in the Waterville area.
