Three MOO Milk farms sign on with Stonyfield
Three former MOO Milk organic dairy farms have signed contracts with Stonyfield, an organic yogurt maker located in Londonderry, N.H.
The Associated Press reported Sayer Family Farm in Canton, Brook Ridge Farm in Lyman and Woodside Farm in Sidney are among the first farms in Stonyfield's milk sourcing initiative. Stonyfield said the program targets new farmers to help realize their dream of running a dairy farm, conventional farmers looking to transition to organic and existing organic farmers that want to grow or transition to the next generation.
The program will supplement milk coming from six other Maine organic dairy farms that have joined the Wisconsin-based cooperative Organic Valley and also were part of the now-defunct Maine’s Own Organic Milk, the Falmouth-based milk brand that was supplied by 12 Maine organic dairy farms. MOO Milk ceased production this spring.
