Newsworthy people and performances

New hires

The Maine Lobster Marketing Collaborative in Portland hired Matt Jacobson as executive director. Jacobson most recently served as president and CEO of Maine & Company, a nonprofit business consulting and development organization.

The Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport hired Nicki Noble Bean as director of marketing. Bean was previously tourism manager for the Greater Portsmouth [N.H.] Chamber of Commerce.

The Portland Museum of Art hired Jennifer DePrizio as the Peggy L. Osher director of learning and interpretation and Andrea Reising as production coordinator and project assistant. DePrizio was previously the director of visitor learning at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston while Reising was most recently operations manager at the School of Visual Arts.

PMAC Lending Services, a national mortgage lender, hired Linda Peters Drake as branch manager of its York location.

Penobscot Community Health Care in Bangor hired Mark Franklin, Owen Johnson, Peter Levandoski, Natalie Sigwart and Jenna Gaw as general practice dental residents at its Dental Center.

Maine Huts & Trails in Kingfield hired Sarah Carter as hut master at the Grand Falls hut and Lani Cochrane as recreation program manager.

Harriman, an architecture and engineering firm in Auburn, hired Matt Strong as a designer in its mechanical engineering department, Zachariah Pacheco as a designer in its structural engineering department and Michael Waterhouse and Samantha Levesque as architectural designers in its retail design studio.

L.S. Robinson Co., an insurance company in Southwest Harbor, hired Amanda Corson as a personal insurance account executive.

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust in Ellsworth recently hired Stephen Gurin Jr. as vice president/team leader of regional business banking. Most recently Gurin was senior vice president/business banking sales leader for KeyBank in Vermont.

WinterKids, a nonprofit in Portland that helps children develop healthy lifelong habits through outdoor activity, hired Rob Wilber as marketing and communications manager. Wilber was previously with WCSH6-TV in Portland.

The Maine Department of Economic and Community Development hired Diane Jackson as a business account executive. Most recently, Jackson served as director of special projects for a Lewiston-based marketing group.

The Maine Department of Corrections hired Alan Gregory as the staff development coordinator at the Maine State Prison. Gregory was previously a corrections officer, corporal, sergeant and training coordinator at Kennebec County Jail.

Baker Newman Noyes, a CPA and advisory firm in Portland, hired Paul Letalien as director of the firm's health care management consulting practice.

Bar Harbor Biotechnology in Trenton hired Janet Yancey-Wrona as CEO. Yancey-Wrona was previously with Maine Manufacturing LLC.

Biddeford Savings hired Doug Jones to develop its commercial real estate and small business loans portfolio in the Portland, South Portland, Scarborough, Gorham and Westbrook markets. Jones was most recently with People's United Bank.

Norway Savings Bank hired Mary Leavitt as vice president and senior trust officer of the bank's asset management group in Auburn.

The Maine Office of Tourism, within the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development, hired Jennifer Geiger to handle public relations, industry outreach and communications with tourism partners in Maine. Geiger was previously with Main Street Bath.

Burgess Advertising & Marketing in Portland hired Danielle Robinson as production and workflow manager and Christina Hill as a graphic designer.

Norton Financial Services in Cumberland Foreside hired Marina Waisman as executive assistant. Waisman most recently served as operations manager at The Peekaboo Children's Center in Westbrook.

Northeast Bank in Lewiston hired Daryl Wentworth as chief commercial officer of its Community Banking Division and Hilary Laramore-Jones as assistant vice president, commercial services manager of its commercial lending team. Wentworth was previously with RBS Citizens while Laramore-Jones was with Bangor Savings Bank.

Diversified Communications, an international media company in Portland, hired Susan Quinn Seavey as a receptionist and Krista DeMario as a customer service representative.

The University of Maine at Farmington hired Joseph McGinn as provost and vice president of academic affairs. McGinn was previously with Towson University in Maryland.

Unity College in Unity hired Julie Briggs Cunningham as director of college development and alumni affairs. Most recently Briggs Cunningham served as director of annual giving programs at St. Bonaventure University in New York.

Kemp Goldberg Partners, an advertising and public relations firm in Portland, hired Michelle LeBlanc as social media specialist.

Promotions

Ouellette & Associates P.A., a CPA firm in Lewiston, promoted Steven Lamontagne to principal in the firm. Lamontagne was previously an audit director.

cPort Credit Union in Portland promoted Jacquelyn Murphy to assistant branch manager at its Forest Avenue branch. Murphy was previously a member service representative.

BerryDunn, a CPA and consulting firm in Portland, promoted Ed Daranyi, Julie Keim, Chad Snow and Seth Webber to principal.

Bernstein Shur, a law firm in Portland, selected Dan Mitchell as co-chair of the firm's litigation practice group. Mitchell, a shareholder, is also co-chair of the firm's data security team and a member of the business law practice group.

TD Bank promoted William Sipperly to vice president, senior commercial relationship manager in commercial lending in Portland. Sipperly most recently served as a vice president, relationship manager.

Nancy Marshall Communications in Augusta promoted Kevin Gove to chief content officer. Gove was previously an account executive.

The Maine Department of Corrections promoted Gary LaPlante to director of operations and John Coyne to regional correctional administrator for region 1 juvenile.

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Maine promoted Bill Whitmore to regional vice president, sales. Whitmore previously led the underwriting team in Maine.

The Consumers for Affordable Health Care board of directors promoted Emily Brostek to executive director. Brostek was previously associate director.

Cross Financial Corp. in Bangor promoted Laurie Noel to vice president of personal lines. Noel also serves as regional manager for eight Cross Insurance locations throughout Maine and Massachusetts and branch manager for the agency's branch in Windham.

Appointments

BerryDunn, a CPA and consulting firm in Portland, recently re-elected Frank O'Shea to the firm's management committee.

The Marble Institute of America recently appointed Kathleen Carle of J.C. Stone Inc. in Jefferson to the 2014 Women in Stone Steering Committee.

The Maine Municipal Association in Augusta recently named Patricia Sutherland to its executive committee. Sutherland serves on the town of Chapman's Select Board.

The Maine Chapter of Construction Specifications Institute recently elected Dan Miller as chapter president and Mat Ward as chapter director. Miller and Ward are with WBRC Architects Engineers in Bangor.

The Opportunity Alliance, a social services, counseling and mental health nonprofit in Portland, recently announced that Rebecca Bloch, Anita Chandler, Marc Doyon, Jane Harmon, Peter Harrison, Dan Hunter, Chris Jerome, Angus King III, Thomas Saturley, Barbara Schneider, Greg Shinberg, Tom Smith, Tim Soley, Cynthia Tayman-Veroneau, Colette Twigg-Rowse, Jim Vachon and Gerry Vicenzi will serve on its board of directors.

The Maine Tourism Association in Hallowell added James Brown, Kathy Dyer and Jean Maginnis to its board of directors. Brown is the owner of Rideout's Lakeside Lodge & Cottages on East Grand Lake in Weston, Dyer is the executive director of the Maine Campground Owners Association in Lewiston and Maginnis is the founder and executive director of the Maine Center for Creativity in Portland.

Maine Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap was elected by the National Association of Secretaries of State to serve as eastern region vice president.

Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution elected Bob Wade as chair of the board, Roland Eon was re-elected to the board of directors and Barbara Dresser and Michael Knowles were elected as new “corporators.”

WinterKids, a nonprofit in Portland that helps children develop healthy lifelong habits through fun, outdoor winter activity, announced Joe O'Neil and Gines Satchi joined its board of directors. O'Neil is COO at Portland Pie Co. and Satchi is the assistant director at Camp Runoia in Belgrade.

Preble Street, a homeless shelter in Portland, announced Jane Bradley and Yemaya St. Clair joined its board of directors. Bradley is a retired Maine District Court Judge while St. Clair is a writer and a development professional.

Achievements

Consigli Construction Co. in Portland ranked 77th among the top 400 construction management firms by Engineering News-Record magazine. The company was also ranked 97th by new contracts and 38th in domestic general building revenue.

Baker Newman Noyes, a CPA and consulting firm in Portland, was recently ranked 12th on the list of the top 100 firms to watch for 2014 and ranked among the top-five firms in New England by Accounting Today in its Top 100 Firms Annual Report. The firm also announced that Eleanor Baker, managing principal, was named to Maine Magazine's “50 People Shaping Our State” list in its July 2014 issue.

The Maine Department of Labor announced the Classic Boat Shop in Bernard, the Hinckley Co. in Trenton and Pleasant River Pine in Hancock earned the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program Award.

The Maine Credit Union League in Portland honored five individuals as the recipients of the Maine CU Movement's annual awards including Raymond Gagnon, PeoplesChoice Credit Union, The Alexander Ferguson Award for Outstanding Credit Union Volunteer; Phil Moreau, president/CEO, Rainbow Federal Credit Union, James M.
