Auburn ski resort seeks funds to stay open

The storied Lost Valley Ski & Banquet Resort in Auburn has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise at least $50,000 in order to open for the upcoming ski season.

The Lewiston Sun Journal reported that the ski resort's public appeal comes after experiencing continuing financial issues, losing nearly $200,000 per season for several years.

However, the ski resort's owners, Lincoln Hayes and Connie King, said they have a new business plan that will help the ski resort's long-term survival and will lower expenses by investing in high-efficiency snow-making equipment and low-energy lights.

Lost Valley's crowdfunding campaign at Crowdrise.com seeks at least $50,000 to open its primary chairlift, with a $100,000 goal that would help open its second chairlift.
