Bar Harbor cabbie indicted in stock scheme

The owner of a Bar Harbor-based business has been indicted for his alleged involvement in a stock manipulation scheme that defrauded investors of hundreds of millions of dollars.

The Mount Desert Islander reported that Joseph Dervali, the owner of taxi company Cadillac Joe’s Island Transportation, was indicted Sept. 11 by a New York City jury for his alleged participation in defrauding thousands of investors for nearly $290 million in penny stocks.

Dervali — who provides Acadia National Park tours, among other cab services — was arrested by Bar Harbor police Monday on an extraditable warrant from New York City.
